Memorial Day Weekend in Cadillac – May 27-29

The observances will follow the traditional pattern, with the Cadillac Area Honor Guard performing a salute to sailors at 9:30am on Lake Cadillac at the City Dock near the Cadillac Rotary Performing Arts Pavilion.

The parade down Cadillac’s main street, Mitchell Street, starts at 10am, and will follow the shore of the lake to Veterans Memorial Stadium at the intersection of Chestnut and Linden Streets. Veterans are encouraged to walk in the parade, and a horse-drawn carriage will also be available to carry those unable to walk the route.

Lumberman’s Duathon & Triathlon – June 18

The Lumberman event is going into its 6th year this year, and the 2nd year for the half ironman distance. Cadillac is an extremely athletic community with plenty of resources and amenities available for the event planners and the athletes. There are plenty of lodging and camping choices, a plethora of shopping choices for the entire family, and restaurants with every choice of food and flavor available.

The course is just as perfect with a shallow Cadillac Lake swim or kayak/paddle; a bike course that takes you on a quick 3 mile jaunt to get outside of town and then smooth, lightly travelled, rolling country roads for an out and back ride. The run is something special: Half and Olympic distance athletes run a simple loop around the lake, which is 6.5 miles. Sprint athletes just zip down to the state park and return. And all of this is right downtown at the high school with showers and restrooms available.

Kayak and stand up paddle boarders come on out! A 2 mile Kayak awaits you with your choice of bike and run.
